The day was long, many hardships about. One crew began this morning by heading to build a SAWs ramp in Greenwood. They worked hard all day and completed the ramp just before dinner time. Today's ramp was the longest one of the week! The other two groups began the morning by mulching trees at the Benedict Inn and then headed over to the Jameson Camp. Projects for Jameson today included: painting most of the exterior of a house, trimming around some paths, and nearly completing the fence project (until we ran out of materials). These two crews also returned just before dinner. Out of appreciation for the group's hard work this week, Sister Sheila provided an ice cream sundae bar for dessert. We then had devotions and concluded the night with our annual Faith Sharing. Tomorrow is our fun day and barbecue banquet. The group discussed tonight that Caravan 2021 has been a meaningful week and one which we all needed immensely following a year of pandemic, social distancing and disappointments from canceled events. Caravan has allowed us to serve others, grow closer to God, and have fun while creating strong bonds within our group. Thank you, Orchard Park family, for making Caravan possible every year and for supporting our youth in so many ways.
Love, Jenni

The day was long, many hardships about.
The SAWs Indianapolis group had lots of fun building their wheelchair ramp, as we got to see and play with approximately 8 billion dogs and cats. After a quick build, we stopped for a slushee run before continuing service work for the very kind Sister Sheila. The SAWs Brownsburg group was greeted with donuts compliments of SAWs in preparation for our 40+ foot ramp project. We then had the joy of providing lunch for the SAWs team leaders. As the day wore on, so did we. While it was a tough build, we pushed through right until dinner time, where the whole group was greeted with Mac and cheese, chicken, and banana cake. The Jameson group got to camp energized from their Starbucks run. The crew, led by Anna Kearns, mulched the low and high ropes courses after completing the final tippy top painting of a cabin. Many future scientists showed their skills when we mixed and poured cement to set fence posts. Today was another wonderful day helping and serving others. We can’t wait for tomorrow! Love, The Green group Abby Burnham, Reece Eichman, Anna Kearns, Noah Pieters, Jackie Kreutz, Grace Truster and Kristy Truax The day was long, many hardships about (this is how all Caravan blogs begin). At Jameson Camp we stained an old cabin that needed refurbishing. we spread mulch under an obstacle course and while getting the mulch we found some little, white balls on the ground. At first, Mrs. Eichman thought they were ping pong balls, but they turned out to be turtle eggs. Rusty was so kind and went to get the group milkshakes from Sonic. Another group helped the SAWs organization build a wheelchair ramp at a house for a very thankful lady named Deborah. All the ramps have to be a certain length to meet regulation. For every inch of height, it is has to be a foot long. So, our ramp we built was 24 feet long. We used great teamwork skills and got it done in just a few hours. After we finished, we stopped by Speedway and got some slushies and snacks. After we got back from our slushie run, we helped Sister Sheila with some garden work by cutting up branches into smaller pieces. The weather today was a little chilly at times and then pretty hot at other times. But, overall, it was a comfortable day weather-wise. Today was a tiring day but it felt so fulfilling helping people and hearing how thankful they all are!
Love, The Blue Group Ian McKechnie, Annie Dougherty, Anna Harvey, Natasha Howard, Brenden Stickles & Ben Galanti The day was long, many hardships about, including a very talkative camp leader at the Jameson camp site, toast that never really toasted, light sprinkling of rain, and lots of bug bites. The first group went to SAWs and they built a beautiful wheelchair ramp. They were finished by noon and came back to Benedict Inn to do yard work like cutting down trees. Thankfully, Ben R. didn’t cut his arm off with the machete (ha ha). At Jameson Camp, 2 groups finished weeding and mulching all around the building and a small trail. There was an adorable dog named Coco that followed us around all day. We also were surprised to see OPPC graduate Spencer McGhee who came to bring us Jet’s pizza! It was a great 3:00 snack. The 2 groups at the camp also started clearing a path for a new trail and took down an old fence to build a new one. We arrived back around 5:00 and got showers before dinner at 5:30 provided by the inn. They served ham, salad, scrumptious chocolate cake, cheesy potatoes, and green beans. After dinner we split off into our color groups to plan devotions and have some fun before the big day tomorrow! It was a great first day of Caravan!
